Windows license — transfer to a new or different computer
Windows license is relatively expensive. When you are about to change your computer, for one reason or another, to another. You may be wondering how to transfer a Windows license correctly?
Let’s start with the fact that not every license can be transferred from one computer to another.
If you purchased a laptop or computer with a pre-installed version of windows, then this license is called OEM.
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) original manufacturer’s license — a license that comes with the equipment and cannot be transferred to other equipment.
You can only transfer a Retail license — it is also FPP (Full Product Package), or a boxed version. A license that was purchased separately from the equipment with the ability to install on any laptop or computer.
But keep in mind that even the Retail license should be installed on only one machine at a time.
Before activating it on another computer or laptop, you must deactivate it on the previous one. If it has already been installed.

This is the way to use Aida 64, any version is enough. Trial or portable version is available.
Downloading the program, for example from the developer site aida64.com
I chose the portable version for windows.
After downloading, unpack the resulting archive and run the program itself.
You can download the installer and install the program, there is no difference.
During launch, we will be warned that this is a trial version of the program and after this period we must purchase or delete it.
In the program window that opens, on the left, select the item Operating system and on the right we can find our license activation key.
We save it in electronic form, take a photo or write it down, as it suits you.
At the end of use, remove the Aida64 program so as not to violate the license agreement.
Deactivating the license on the old computer
Before activating the license on the new computer, it must be deactivated on the old one. Otherwise, when you turn on the old computer, this license on the new computer will be recognized as not genuine.
According to the license agreement, the license can only be used on one device.
Activation data is stored on a Microsoft server.
We launch the command prompt as an administrator, in windows 10 you need to right-click the start menu and select the appropriate item.

The steps to remove the key from the old computer or laptop do not remove the activation from the Microsoft servers, but this guarantees us that the given key will not be found on two devices. How to find out the specifications of your computer
In the daily life of a PC user, there are very often situations when it is necessary to have an accurate and complete understanding of the specifications of a Windows 10 computer.
For example, if you want to add more RAM, then you should to know what RAM your motherboard will support or when installing software, you need to know what your operating system is.
You can use the following methods to check your computer specifications in Windows 10.
- Windows Settings .
Start → Settings (or use the combination Win+I ) → System → Program
Right in section Device characteristics provides information about the processor and the amount of RAM. The following contains data on the characteristics of the OS used, release, version, assembly. But there is no information about the motherboard here.
- System information.
By pressing the combination Win + R , open the window Run .
In line Open : enter « msinfo32 ” and press the button OK or Enter .
The System Information window that opens provides more information than the Settings app.
You can get information about the version of Windows, the manufacturer and model of the motherboard, the processor, the amount of RAM and more.
There is a very handy function here that will allow to save detailed report with system information as a text file. This can be useful if you need to send this kind of information to another person or have a copy of yourself in case of any problems with the computer. To do this, in the menu bar, click File → Export .
After that, you will be able to select the location where the text file with information will be exported, enter file name and press Save .
In the specified path you will find a text file with all the characteristics of your PC.
- Command line.
Press Win+R to bring up the window Run . Enter the command » cmd » in the line and press OK / enter . Next on the line with the username C :\ Users \ type » systeminfo » → Enter and the download of system information will begin.
The above 3 methods can be used without resorting to third party software.
Now let’s introduce you to the software with which you can also get information about the characteristics of your computer, but all of them need to be downloaded and installed, and some need to be purchased.
- Speccy .
The program has a free version, which works quite stable and shows a lot of useful information. There is also a pro version that you can install to get auto-updates and premium support.

You can get the information we are interested in about the processor, memory and motherboard immediately after starting the program. It is presented in section General Information .
For more detailed specifications, click on the section of interest to the left. For example, by going to the category RAM , you will have access to information about the total amount of memory, type, number of slots, DRAM frequency, and the amount of physical memory used.
You can save all information as a text file.
To do this, in the menu bar, select File → Save as text → specify the path → Save . The data will be written in txt format.

- CPUID CPU — Z .
A free program that provides some information about your PC devices. The utility interface is in English, Chinese is also available.
To obtain information about the characteristics of your PC, run the program from the Start menu or from the desktop . The program can be classified as shareware with the Russian interface language. When downloading and installing, the developer provides a 30-day trial period.
Processor information can be obtained by clicking on the left tab Menu → Mainboard → CPU . You will see information about the type of processor, frequency, multiplier, cache, its physical data. Some information is marked «TRIAL VERSION» and is not available for viewing.
