Ho trovato sul sito un componente che cercavo da tempo e che non credevo di poter più reperire sul mercato. Appena inserito l’ordine sono stato contattato telefonicamente e mi è stato spiegato che, essendo il periodo di chiusura del fornitore, i tempi si sarebbero allungati di qualche giorno. Dovendo comprare un’antenna per un impianto autocostruito, ho ricevuto dalla Chat tutto il supporto che mi è stato necessario. Questa è una chat vera con risposta immediata.
A più riprese, (con cambiamento dello scenario da me prospettato inizialmente), si sono sempre dimostrati molto disponibili e competenti.

The appearance of this interface became possible due to the transfer of production to 180 nm technology, which, in turn, made it possible to use a compact core package in a ceramic case.
The Athlon XP model with the Palomino core, in addition to technological innovations, provided support for an extended set of SSE instructions from Intel. With the transition to 130 nm technology standards, the Thoroughbred core appeared, and with the introduction of the 333 MHz system bus, the Thoroughbred B core appeared. plastic case, for the Socket A pin-pin connector. The novelty was called Duron and was intended to become an alternative to Intel’s Celeron processors. Although the Duron has the same L2 cache size as the Celeron (128 KB), its advantage lies in its ability to run on a 100 MHz system bus (the Celeron Socket 370 only ran on a 66 MHz bus). Moreover, data transmission over the memory bus on both signal edges emulates the resulting frequency of 200 MHz. The Thunderbird core provided operating frequencies of the Athlon processor up to 1400 MHz with a thermal power of up to 72 watts.
The new interface was unanimously supported by mainboard manufacturers (VIA, SiS, AH, nVIDIA, ATI), who presented many chipset models for Socket A. One of the outstanding representatives was the VIA KT133 chipset, in conjunction with which the Athlon processor achieved the best performance.

With the release of the XP family, AMD has introduced a new processor performance rating (Performance Rating). For example, the first Athlon XP processor had an index of 1800+, but the actual operating frequency was 1533 MHz. Officially, the index was calculated relative to Athlon processors with the Thunderbird core, but buyers evaluated it as an index corresponding to the frequencies of Intel’s Pentium processors. It must be admitted that, on the whole, this approach corresponded to reality.
The K7 architecture has been gradually improved in the direction of improving production technologies, increasing the frequency of the system bus, and increasing the cache memory.
The most productive in the Athlon XP line was the processor based on the Barton core with an index of 3200+. It had a system bus frequency of 200 (400 DDR) MHz, a real operating frequency of 2200 MHz, and a 512 KB L2 cache.
With the advent of 64-bit AMD K8 processors, the company faced the question: what to do with the line of Athlon XP processors for Socket A. Their performance is practically on par with the corresponding Pentium 4 processors and unambiguously surpasses Celeron D. But the Socket A interface no longer meets modern tasks.

After some deliberation, the company announced the following decision: Athlon XP processors of the latest modifications (thoroughbred-B, Thorton and Barton cores) are renamed Sempron, Duron processors are discontinued, development new processor models for Socket A is discontinued. Thus, users are given enough time to gradually phase out the operation of the Socket A platform and make a decision to switch to a 64-bit platform.
