Computers are some of the most flexible, powerful devices in the world, but that power can come at a cost. Running the most powerful components (or overclocking those parts) can cause them to run hot, which can lead to hardware throttling and even failure. While PC fans have been a go-to for a long time, water coolers (and other liquid coolers) are vastly more efficient.
Thankfully, you don’t have to be a professional to get a cool (pun intended) rig these days, thanks to the availability of all-in-one (AIO) liquid coolers. These cooling units are self-contained, meaning you don’t have to worry about spilling water on your expensive gaming PC components, and they are incredibly easy to install. As an added bonus, they are usually far quieter and take up less room than air cooling components (making them perfect for mini ITX cases). Read on to find our list of the best liquid CPU coolers.
TL;DR – These are the Best Liquid CPU Coolers:

The Corsair ML RGB Elite fans can adjust to higher or lower levels, according to the moment’s cooling needs.
As far as lighting, the fans’ RGB lighting can also be adjusted with Corsair’s iCUE software, but the unit really raises the bar with the pump’s 2.1-inch IPS LCD display. It has 8-bit color depth for millions of color options. The display can show visual effects, and even GIFs or memes, all at 30fps (and, of course, it can display handy system performance data, like your CPU temperature).
7. Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240 Illusion
Best RGB Liquid CPU Cooler
Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240 Illusion
When it comes to liquid CPU coolers, there’s a good reason the Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240 Illusion stands out. It pairs RGB lights with translucent material for maximum visual impact. Imagine a glow stick dancing in the middle of your PC while it’s running, and you’ll have a good idea.
Cooler Master pairs the dual-chamber radiator with two MasterFan MF120 Halo fans (also translucent), which have a total of 24 ARGB LEDs each, and you can customize your look from the included ARGB controller, so you don’t need to have motherboard RGB controls to make use of it.
The radiator has wide water channels to increase surface area (and, by extension, cooling potential) and the fans offer up 47.2 CFM of airflow and 1.6mmh3O of static pressure, meaning this beast has cooling power (and cool looks) in spades.
8. Alphacool Eisbaer Aurora
Best Refillable Liquid CPU Cooler
Alphacool Eisbaer Aurora
- See it on Newegg
The Alphacool Eisbaer Aurora offers just about everything you could want in an AIO water cooler. Its 240mm radiator provides powerful cooling, and the two 120mm Aurora Lux Pro fans are capable of 2.0 mmh3O of static pressure and 61.5 CFM of airflow. The biggest way this cooler sets itself apart is that you can open the fluid chamber and refill it, meaning it can have a longer life as part of your rig.
There’s a good amount of RGB lighting on display here as well, although it’s not as flexible as other options on this list. Both fans sport RGB light rings and the pump includes a transparent window with RGB lighting inside.
9. NZXT Kraken Z63
Best Liquid CPU Cooler with a Display
NZXT Kraken Z63
Several cooler manufacturers have displays, but NZXT’s Kraken Z63 truly stands above the rest. The display contains important information like the CPU and GPU temperatures, but you can also have it display animated GIFs and other things, letting you truly personalize your setup.
The Kraken Z63 isn’t lacking in power, either, as it comes with a powerful pair of 140mm fans and an advanced Asetek water pump. If you like the idea of having a display, but don’t need tons of RGB light flooding your system, this is the one.
10. ekwb EK-AIO 240 D-RGB
Best High-Performance Liquid Cooler
ekwb EK-AIO 240 D-RGB
The EKWaterBlocks EK-AIO 240 D-RGB cooler is primed and ready to keep the hottest, high-end gaming rig cool. It’s compatible with Intel and AMD setups, and is easy and quick to set up. The Vardar S 120mm fans on this beast can produce 2.89 mmh3O of static pressure and 66 CFM airflow to enable the 240mm radiator to handle whatever your CPU can throw at it.
Both the included fans and the water block sport RGB, and the whole kit is compatible with a wide range of motherboard RGB controls. So your rig will stay cool and look cool. As an added bonus for those interested in “cable management,” the hoses are very flexible , so you can bend them easily to fit even in smaller cases. These hoses are also wrapped in nylon to make them more resilient than your average rubber tube.

Change is good. Change is constant. Change is inevitable. But at times, months or years can go by before a new product arrives to dethrone the previous incumbent juggernaut atop our component rankings. Many challenge, few succeed.
The Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML360R RGB is one of those few. When it comes to keeping overclocked CPU load temperatures in check, it’s the new chilling champ. As the 360 variant of our previously reviewed MasterLiquid ML240R RGB, the newly available MasterLiquid ML360R adds 33 percent more radiator surface area for even more cooling prowess. The result? It cools even better than the mighty NZXT Kraken X72.
Supporting most consumer (including high-end desktops) Intel and AMD processor sockets (sorry, no Threadripper / TR4), Cooler Master ships the MasterLiquid ML360R RGB with a dizzying accompaniment of accessories and mounting hardware. In addition to the usual backplates, threaded offsets and bolts, the packaging includes a syringe of Cooler Master thermal compound, an RGB lighting control module and USB connectivity cabling to allow desktop control of your RGB lighting within the UI suite.

Speaking of the RGB lighting module, be prepared to route and configure the plethora of included cables required for full integration of the ML360R RGB. The rectangular control module has a magnetic base, which should let you avoid the double-sided tape needed for most steel-based chassis. USB handles the connectivity and control of the module—either via adapter to a 9-pin USB motherboard header, or a standard Type-A port.
The sleek, rounded Cooler Master pump housing provides an almost-discreet level of RGB lighting by today’s standards, with the chosen lighting pattern illuminated through the Cooler Master hexagonal logo and around the edges of the rounded cover dome. The cover is removable and can be oriented to match your specific installation—no one wants an upside-down Cooler Master logo. Rubber tubing is sleeved beneath nylon braid, which is terminated with heat-shrink tubing at right-angle rotational fittings on the pump.
The ML360R RGB uses a large, single-piece copper baseplate with fine, linear grain milling to mate with the surface of the CPU’s integrated heat spreader. The included adapter brackets secure to the housing tabs with four small screws from the accessory contents.
The aluminum 360 radiator of the ML360R RGB offers a good balance of fin density and airflow for the MF120R aRGB (addressable RGB) pulse-width modulation (PWM) fans. Thumbscrew-type fan bolts allow for speedy, tool-free installation of the trio of fans to the radiator housing, but you can also tighten them a bit more with a Philips-head screwdriver.
Turning down the lights provides a bright, consistent glow from the aRGB fans and pump housing. You can choose any shade of color on any component you wish.
As with most 360 AIO coolers, mounting the radiator serves as the biggest hurdle. However, if your case supports a 360 (3 x 120mm) cooler, installation troubles should be minimal. We made good use of the 90-degree rotational fittings on the pump unit in order to get everything into place inside our accommodating Corsair Graphite 760T chassis, although a bit more length in the tubing department really would do wonders.

Rating of the best water cooling systems for the processor in 2022
In this ranking, I have collected the 5 best water cooling systems for your PC . I gave the main priority to two-sections, because in 2022 they are enough to solve 95% of the tasks. But for those who need the most powerful dropsy with 3 140 mm screws, there is also an option. I carefully studied each participant on the technical side and I can say with confidence that none of them will leak and will not work louder than a tower cooler . All LSSs can not only cool the processor well, but also add atmosphere to the room, if the computer is not under the table, of course. Although buying dropsy and hiding all the beauty under the table is a strange idea. But let’s start looking at the participants.

- Max. airflow: 72.2 CFM.
- Pump rotation speed: 2300 rpm.
- Speed controller: PWM.
Unlocks Aerocool Mirage L240 ARGB 9 rating0004 . This is a dropsy for 2 sections measuring 274x120x27 mm. Each element of the LSS is responsible for cooling the processor itself, but let’s start with the fans. As I said before, there are 2 sections in which 2 x 120mm screws are installed. They are untwisted with the help of a hydrodynamic bearing. This is a good modern type of bearing for the money that lasts a long time and does not require frequent lubrication . Of course, there are also those with magnetic centering, but such dropsy cost as much as a top-end processor. I think few people would want to pay so much for cooling.
But our bearing version is enough for any task. Especially since it spins the blades up to 1800 rpm . And since this LSS supports PWM, then we can regulate them ourselves using the controller that comes with the kit. The next element is the pump. It can spin up to 2300 rpm . Together with the propellers, they create an airflow of 72.2 cubic feet per minute. This is a good result, which will provide cooling to the processor. But it also affected the noise during operation .
Aerocool failed to make the dropsy silently perform its task after installation . You can’t say that it buzzes like a fighter, but the tower cooler will not work much louder. Therefore, this option is definitely not about silence. From cool there is A-RGB illumination of the pump and screws . It can be synchronized with the motherboard, but only if it supports such a function.

- Max. propeller speed: 1800 rpm.
- Max. airflow: 69.34 CFM.
- Pump rotation speed: 2400 rpm.
- Pump size: 91x79x47 mm.
In fourth place Deepcool Gammaxx L240 V2 . This dropsy is also in 2 sections. But it connects to the largest number of sockets in the ranking of all. You can see the full list on the screen. Processors are cooled with the same size screws — 120 mm . Well, the bearing is the same — hydrodynamic. Together they can spin up to 1800 rpm. Since the connection is via 4-pin and there is PWM support, you can independently adjust the speed. But the pump is already connected via 3-pin, so you can see if it works as much as possible. Spins up to 2400 rpm. Her dimensions are as follows: 91x79x47 mm . It has solid hoses coming from it. But they can be laid in the case as you need.
Paired with fans, the system processes up to 70 cubic feet of air per minute. As you can see, the characteristics of this dropsy and the previous one are very similar to . But here Deepcool was able to better cope with the noise during operation. At high speeds at night you will still hear a rumble. Especially if the PC is right on the table. But when lowered, you can return to silence. Therefore, do not worry, because this cooler is far from the level of the cooler. There is also a cool backlight, which is separately connected via 12 V line .
If you can synchronize with the motherboard, you can conveniently set up the way you want. Therefore, with this CBO you will upgrade not only the cooling of the processor, but also the aesthetic component of the entire case. After all, it completely changes the interior. Especially mesmerizing screen on the pump.

- Fan diameter: 120 mm.
- Bearing type: hydrodynamic.
- Max. screw speed: 2000 rpm.
- Max. airflow: 73.11 CFM.
- Pump rotation speed: 2800 rpm.
- Pump size: 80x80x55 mm.
NZXT Kraken X53 opens the top three. Here are the same 2 sections with 120 mm fans. If you’re here for more effective CBOs, don’t worry, you’re next in line. Kraken X53 is suitable for fewer sockets. This is especially true for AMD . There are only 2 of them — AM4 and TR4. With Intel, the situation is much better. You can see the full list on the screen. For air intake, the propellers gain up to 2000 rpm on a hydrodynamic bearing. It is possible to regulate with the controller . The pump also spins faster than the previous participants — up to 2800 rpm. With these characteristics, water cooling can handle about 73 cubic feet of air.
The Kraken X53 model cannot be called loud . Of course, if the pump and screws are spun to the maximum, complete silence will not be achieved. But if they work at moderate speeds, then you will not hear any rattling, seething and other sounds. Enthusiasts and lovers of silence may advise to change screws . The idea, of course, is not very pleasant. Because it seems that I already bought an expensive thing, and refine it after that. But this applies only to those who are especially confused about silence.
This will not cause any inconvenience to a gamer or an ordinary user. The main thing is that the processor gets a normal temperature under hard loads . But if you know that 2 sections are not enough for your stone, then look at the following dropsy options. There, the quality is higher, and the noise from the work is less, well, it cools, of course, better.

- Max. propeller speed: 1700 rpm.
- Max. airflow: 72.8 CFM.
- Pump rotation speed: 2000 rpm.
- Pump size: 98x78x53 mm.
Arctic Liquid Freezer II 420 ranks second. This is the most powerful and largest dropsy in the ranking. The dimensions of its three sections with 140 mm screws on the teeth will not be for every mid-tower case. Its dimensions are 458x138x38 mm. Therefore, calculate this moment before buying. Also check if it fits your processor socket. You can see the entire list of supported Intel and AMD sockets on the screen. Speaking of screws. If you look closely, you can see an additional 40 mm fan on the pump. It is so small, but it is already doing a responsible job — it cools the power components around the socket, so it cannot be called useless.
The main fans run on the same hydrodynamic bearing. Can accelerate to 1700 rpm. Naturally, you can adjust this moment yourself . The pump will give a maximum of 2000 rpm. Here, as you may have noticed, the characteristics create all the conditions for silence during operation, even at maximum speed. And there is. For noise at high speeds, you can generally forget . Although it would be interesting to see how it is possible to load the CPU so much that only 3 screws of 140 mm each at maximum speed can cool it. But let’s leave this question behind the scenes.
All elements together create an airflow of 72.8 CFM . Therefore, the heated air will definitely not stagnate in the case. By the way, according to this parameter there is a more powerful opponent, which at first glance may seem weaker. Including for this merit, he took 1st place.

- Fan diameter: 140 mm.

- Max. propeller speed: 1800 rpm.
- Max. airflow: 98.17 CFM.
- Pump rotation speed: 2800 rpm.
- Pump size: 79x79x52 mm.
The leader of the rating is NZXT Kraken Z63 . Next, we will talk about the Kraken, already familiar to you, but from a cooler line — Z63. Includes 2 x 140 mm screw sections . Here you no longer need a Full-tower case in order to connect it to the processor without scratches. Unfortunately, there is no support for the new Intel socket — LGA1700. But, of course, you can make this business with the help of all sorts of adapters and additional kit kits. The price won’t turn you off. It’s not the screws to change. By the way, in this model they can spin up to a maximum of 1800 rpm.
Nobody canceled self-adjustment. The pump here spins up to a crazy 2800 rpm . Looking at the characteristics, I thought that there could be no question of any silence. And then I looked at the tests, the price, the reviews and realized that there could be no question of noise during operation. Therefore, at least put your ear on, but you will not squeeze out any annoying extra sounds from it under any load. This Kraken deserves credit for its 98.17 cfm airflow.
Really high high cooling rate . There is a cool monitor on the pump. You can display some indicators of the system on it. Therefore, he does his job not only pleasantly, but also usefully. As, in general, the whole water cooling system. Just quietly, efficiently, reliably cools the processor under any load . For this, I put the NZXT Kraken Z63 in first place.

TOP—7. The best water cooling systems (CBO) for the processor. February 2022. Rating!
Author Anatoly Vorontsov Reading 7 min. Views 3.5k. Posted
Updated
Hello everyone! CPU cooling is an extremely important part of the system build. Make a mistake at this stage and, at best, lose some of the stone’s performance that you paid for. At worst, the computer will not work adequately at all. Water cooling systems have long ceased to be a luxury and an attribute of the top-end assemblies. Of course, it all depends on requests, and a custom CBO can cost as much as a good computer, but still there are plenty of budget and medium-sized unattended systems on the market. Today I have prepared for you a selection of the seven best drops for processors in different price categories.
I’ll start with an inexpensive dropsy from Cooler Master. This single-section is at the level of average air tower coolers both in terms of price and efficiency. This is not the case when you need to overclock some top-end processor. Such a system will fit perfectly, for example, in an ultra-compact system. It is also perfect for those who want to build a very quiet computer. Installing such a dropsy on, say, a processor with a heat dissipation of about a hundred watts or less, you will get super-quiet operation of the pump and fan even at the maximum load of the system. The model supports almost all current sockets from both AMD and Intel. Unless the brand new LGA1700 has not yet been announced, but given the hot temper of the new blue CPUs, this CBO would not fit. The length of the tubes is almost 30 centimeters, so there will be no problems with installation even in fairly spacious cases. Unless they are unlikely to reach the front panel. Well, the icing on the cake was RGB backlighting, which supports all popular synchronization technologies. The kit includes everything you need for a quick and easy installation.
Deepcool Gammaxx L240 A-RGB
- Fans: 2x 120 mm
- Fan rotation speed: 500–1800 rpm
- Noise level: ≤ 30 dB
- Littlelight: RGB
- Radiator dimensions (DXShXV): 282x120x27 mm
- Heights height pumps: 47 mm
- Tube length: 380 mm
- Weight: 1330 g. The manufacturer does not indicate TDP, but according to reviews and other characteristics, it can be put on a par with pre-top air cooling. However, in terms of noise level, it will, again, be quieter in most cases. This is an excellent choice for high-performance CPUs in stock or for light and medium overclocking of Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5. Moreover, this dropsy loves blue processors clearly more, because it supports almost everything, from LGA1150 to the brand new LGA1700. For AMD, only AM4 is declared. However, few people today need the old red sockets. Tubes with a length of 38 centimeters allow you to install the system anywhere in almost any case, which is very useful, because many cases have a place for a radiator only in the front. Like the previous version, CBO has RGB lighting that supports synchronization from Asus, ASRock, Razer, MSi and Gigabyte.
ASUS ROG RYUJIN 360
- TDP: The supported sockets are not indicated: LGA2066/2011-V3/2011/1200/1151/1150/1156/AM4/AM4/AM4/AM4/AM4/AM4/AM4/AM4/AM4/AM4 TR4
- Fans: 3x 120 mm
- rotation speed: 450–2000 rpm
- Noise level: ≤ 29. 7 dB
- Littlelight: RGB
- Radiator size (DXShXV): 394x121x27 mm
- Romple height: 70 mm Lompa height: 70 mm: 70 mm heights: 70 mm: 70 mm heights: 70 mm: 70 mm.
- Tube length: 380 mm
- Weight: 1480 g.
Next up is Asus cooling. This is already a much more serious solution, with which you can overclock the processor well, and it’s not a shame to put it into a beautiful, expensive assembly. The manufacturer, again, does not indicate the TDP, but the massive heatsink and 3-speed turntables from Noctua inspire confidence. Asus’ collaboration with Noctua has resulted in fast yet quiet turntables. They are capable of accelerating up to two thousand revolutions per minute, while remaining a little quieter than the turntables of the CBO, which I spoke about before. The pump deserves a separate discussion here. Firstly, it has a fairly large 60mm fan built into it. It provides airflow to the power supply system of the motherboard and RAM modules, preventing them from overheating. And secondly, the pump casing is equipped with a 1.77-inch OLED display. Besides the fact that it just looks very effective, it can also be useful. When used with Asus motherboards, it is possible to display on this screen information about the main components of the system by type of temperature and fan speed.
Arctic Liquid Freezer II 420
- TDP: No
- Supported Jobs: LGA2066/2011-1700/1200/1150/1156/1155/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3+/AM3 Fans: 3x 140 mm

- DIARITOR SAMI (DXSHXV): 458x138x38 mm
- POMS height: 53 mm
- PROVING PROVING PROVES : 450 mm

The most massive in this top and one of the few maintenance-free 420 water cooling systems is able to cool even the hottest processor in good overclocking. A huge radiator with a length of more than forty-five centimeters and a thickness of almost one and a half times higher than the standard one is able to absorb a huge amount of heat. And 3 large turntables help to dissipate this heat at once. At maximum speed, they turn out to be quite loud, but they still need to be dispersed to the maximum. In idle or in undemanding tasks, you will not hear them at all, because the turntables can reduce the speed to only two hundred per minute. For comparison, usually the minimum speed is 500-600 rpm. The length of the tubes is 450 millimeters, which allows you to install this CBO even in Full- and Super-Tower cases. However, it will not fit into other cases. As far as support is concerned, compatibility with the new LGA1700 is declared, so this dropsy can be considered an excellent choice for new hot Intel processors.

The NZXT model is, of course, simpler than the previous one, but it is still one of the most efficient CBOs on the market among maintenance-free options. An almost forty-centimeter radiator is blown by three turntables of 120 millimeters each. And if the maximum noise level here is relatively low, then the minimum one is not very different from it, which is rather strange, because the minimum speed here is comparable to dropsies of competitors. The length of the tubes is 400 millimeters, which is enough for almost any case. Fans and pump are equipped with RGB lighting.

In the end, I left the cheapest dropsy in the top. In terms of performance, it is about the same level as air cooling for the same money, or maybe a little better. So she won’t be able to bury the air, but as a way to try something new or save space, it’s quite suitable. Of the advantages, in addition to the price, it is worth noting the long hoses of 40 centimeters. Not every top CBO can be found with such, but here is a frankly budget model. On the other hand, if you plan to install it in a compact case, this can go sideways, because the hoses will simply get in the way. In general, it is worth considering this point before buying. Another plus is the support for a large number of sockets, from the old ones to the top LGA2066 and TR4. At the same time, support for LGA1700 and even LGA1200 is not announced. Although, according to the reviews, dropsy still rises on the last platform.
be quiet! Silent Loop 2 360mm
It is relatively light and weighs like an average two-piece despite taking up 3 sections. The company emphasizes silence in all its products, and this CBO is no exception. In most scenarios, you will barely hear it. However, if necessary, you can unscrew the speed of the turntables as much as two thousand two hundred revolutions per minute, but in this case, of course, you can forget about silence. Also devices from be quiet! are always performed in a single strict style, in dark colors with rare orange accents and without backlighting. But there are exceptions. So, for example, the body of the pump of this dropsy has an RGB backlight along the contour. It is not very bright and unobtrusive, and if necessary, it can be completely turned off. In general, this is an excellent choice for a powerful computer that will please not only with efficiency and reliability, but also with its appearance.
