It has long been quite usual for both computer manufacturer and computer enthusiasts to benchmark their systems. The former do this for advertising purposes, while the latter generally do it for one of two reasons – either to see how much better their system is than other peoples’ or to see what difference a hardware upgrade makes to performance in hard, concrete figures.
As with the desktop versions of the app, 3DMark works by running graphically intensive demonstration on your device to determine the speed at which the screen can be redrawn, polygons can be generated, and how many frames per second footage can be displayed at. There are two demos to work with – Ice Storm and Ice Storm Extreme – but you may find that different devices are only able to run one or the other.
Once the demos have run, your device will be assigned a score and you can check the device channel to see how this compares with other devices. If you feel that your phone or tablet has been performing a little sluggishly, this can be a good way to find out whether what you are experiencing is the norm or something out of the ordinary.
But this is an app that is about more than just benchmarking, it can also be used to discover more about the hardware inside you Android device. Of course you could always dig out the packaging that your phone or tablet came in, or look up the specifications online, but simply firing up 3DMark lets you know everything that happening under the hood.
Need to know how much storage space or RAM you have? 3DMark can help. Unsure of the spec of your camera or processor? The app can help here too. While the app is free of charge, it is gigantic download. The 283MB file is one that should certainly be downloaded on a wifi connection rather than racking up a data bill.

Ocean, US territorial waters. A warship patrols the border under the command of Captain Lynch. Unexpectedly, Dr. Li from China, who was rescued by American sailors, is on the ship. The woman miraculously managed to survive the shipwreck.
Dr. Li was part of a team that used a single device to interfere with the American ship’s communications. However, the waves emanating from the apparatus had a much more dangerous effect: they woke up a deep-sea megalodon shark that attacked a Chinese ship.
Lynch’s deputy does not believe the rescued woman, and considers her a specially sent spy. The Chinese military is ready to open fire upon learning of Dr. Li’s whereabouts. However, opponents will need to join forces in the fight against the impending threat: awakened sharks are out for blood and ready to attack.

A Chinese warship is sailing in the ocean in international waters.
The captain orders the technician on board (Dr. Lee) to establish a connection with the satellite. A woman connects her smartphone to the on-board computer, enters data. A laser beam flashes above the cabin of the ship, which rushes into space and reaches the satellite. Captain: that’s it, now the American communications are disabled, they have no secrets from us now. And we can be absolutely calm. The Americans will never find us here.
Under water, a giant shark is rapidly approaching a Chinese destroyer. After a while, a huge megalodon rams its head into the side of the ship, which shakes from keel to tail. What was it? Submarine? The acoustician answers the captain: no, sir, this is something alive. Blows again, the cracking of bulkheads is heard, outboard water begins to flow through the parted seams into the hold. The commander orders Li to cover up traces of the connection to the enemy satellite. If the enemy gets these technologies, it means war. This cannot be allowed.
Lee disconnects his gadget from the Naval Information System. She leaves the wheelhouse, climbs the ladder onto the deck and closes the hatch behind her.

Naval officer Captain Lynch is on the phone at the US Naval Base. This lady is talking to Commander Moore. They discuss the news: a military tribunal has acquitted Sister Lynch, who was the only one who was able to escape from her ship. She argued to the judges that the megalodon was responsible for the sinking of the American destroyer and the Russian submarine. Watchman reports to Lynch that he sees a Chinese warship. American sailors enter into a radio dialogue with colleagues from the Chinese Navy. Radio operator Tuan negotiates with representatives of her historical homeland in their native language. She apologizes to her captain: I don’t know the language well. How bad? Are you confusing a goose with a duck, or are you saying that the bed fell out of your father? First. Then speak. The Chinese demand that the Americans hand over the rescued woman to him and go home. Otherwise, war. The watchman, watching the enemy through binoculars, informs his superiors that the enemy is preparing ammunition for the battle. At this moment, a group of sharks appears, monsters attack the Chinese.
