Together with ASUS, we share five of the most demanding video games of our time.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
The legendary RPG from Bethesda Softworks was a milestone in the development of not only role-playing games, but also graphics technology. And yet — one of the most demanding hardware video games of its time.
Of course, today such an old school is unlikely to surprise anyone. But in 2002, the graphics of the TES III were truly impressive, not least thanks to the dynamic water, which finally began to look exactly like water, and not like frozen aspic. Highlights, reflections, and shadows looked real…and brought the most powerful PC builds to their knees with ease. Although in general it was possible to launch the game on a two-year GeForce2 GTS with 32 MB of video memory, a comfortable game at «maximum speed» required something like GeForce4 Ti 4400 with 128 MB.
But it was worth it. «If you look back, you can see how circles diverge after the hero plodding through the water» , we wrote admiringly in a review of Morrowind. It was really cool.
Crysis
Our selection could not do without this game. Original Crysis in 2007 was a real graphic breakthrough, showing the entire industry what the video games of the future should look like. The shooter was the first game to support DirectX 10 (only available on Windows Vista at the time), boasted huge sandbox levels with impressive destructibility, and was the first to use SSAO’s real-time global illumination technology.
With all this, the system requirements of Crysis seemed almost boorish. It was simply impossible to launch the game normally at the Extreme graphics level at the time of its release: there was no suitable configuration, and even the top 9 did not pull the maximum settings0007 GeForce 8800 Ultra .
The game was so ahead of its time that it became a meme, and it was used as a benchmark for many years to come. However, today for the ROG Strix SCAR 17 with the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, the system requirements of Crysis (as well as all its sequels) are just a laugh.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
