3DNews Video cards Comparative tests Choosing a video card for New World. Group… The most interesting news
We rarely choose MMO projects for mass GPU tests, but New World definitely deserves an exception. In addition, in a period of shortage of computer hardware, undemanding games are more relevant than ever, and New World is just that ⇣ Contents ⇡#3840 × 2160
We can only talk about at least some serious system requirements in the case of New World in 4K mode. The 60 FPS mark at maximum speed was crossed by AMD Radeon RX 6800 and higher video cards along with NVIDIA accelerators no less powerful than the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. A compromise frame rate in the range of 30 to 60 FPS is provided by the younger models of the current generation — the Radeon RX 6600 XT and GeForce RTX 3060, while the Radeon RX 5700, GeForce RTX 2060, Radeon RX Vega 64 and GeForce GTX 1080 have the minimum performance.0003 The transition from maximum to medium graphics settings lowered the required performance bar for a game with a frame rate of at least 60 FPS to the level of the Radeon RX 6700 XT, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER. The frame rate of 30 FPS is developed by the Radeon RX 5500 XT, Radeon RX Vega 56, GeForce GTX 1660, GeForce GTX 1070 and, already with a good margin, the Radeon RX 6600 XT and GeForce RTX 3060. graphics quality. The weakest of them were Radeon VII, GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER and GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. And finally, devices such as the Radeon RX 580, Radeon RX 5500 XT, GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER and GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB of video memory gave out at least 30 FPS. ⇡#Conclusions Like most MMO titles, New World stands out among other large-scale games of our time with democratic system requirements. Even mid-range graphics cards of the penultimate generation (Radeon RX 5700 XT and GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER) and flagships of older generations (Radeon RX Vega 64, GeForce GTX 1080 Ti) guarantee a frame rate of at least 60 FPS at maximum image quality and a resolution of 1080p or 1440p . Any difficulties for modern hardware arise only when playing on a 4K screen, when only accelerators like the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, Radeon RX 6800 and, of course, more powerful devices from both chipmakers can combine the highest graphics settings and a comfortable frame rate . And due to the fact that even at maximum graphics New World does not show such beauties as single-player or multiplayer AAA projects of recent years, such popular models of the past as the GeForce GTX 1060 and Radeon RX 570, which a frame rate of 60 FPS is available with an average level of graphics quality in 1080p mode. Finally, the absolute minimum performance required to reach a frame rate of 30 FPS at least at the minimum settings was demonstrated in our tests by the Radeon RX 560 and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti.

Just a brief reminder that the release of the RX 6600 XT took place as part of the Chinajoy exhibition. At the heart of the novelty is a bunch of Navi 23 XT GPU and 8 GB of GDDR6 memory. The GPU received 2048 stream processors and 32 Ray Accelerators cores, so the novelty can also be ray tracing. How successful is another story.
The memory operates at an effective frequency of 16 GHz, which is good. But the bus width is only 128 bits and the throughput reaches 256 GB / s. For comparison: the RX 5700 XT received a 256-bit bus capable of transmitting 448 GB of information per second.
According to the official slides, it doesn’t help her. In games, the novelty outperforms its direct predecessor RX 5600 XT by 40-70% and keeps the RX 5700 XT at bay. We will definitely check this, but later.
AMD has named the RTX 3060 as an external competitor, although at the recommended prices, the RX 6600 XT is closer to the RTX 3060 Ti than to the RTX 3060. And according to internal tests, the novelty successfully cracks down on the chosen opponent.
The main merit in this is the transition to the 7nm RDNA 2 architecture. Its performance per watt has improved by 54% compared to the first generation.
The volume of Infinity Cache, of course, was reduced to «I can’t» — 32 instead of 128 MB for top models. Yes, and there are not enough special cores for ray tracing compared to the flagships, but the price tag is noticeably lower. In addition, the RX 6600 XT has only 8 PCIe 4.0 lanes, which is equivalent to the bandwidth of 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes.
Also, the novelty fully supports the DirectX 12 Ultimate API with all the useful goodies, AMD Smart Access Memory technologies, FidelityFX, Anti-Lag and others. In a word — a full-fledged representative of the RX 6000 family. The first is AMD FreeSync. You must have heard of FreeSync, FreeSync Premium and FreeSync Premium Pro. Do you know what is the difference? Now let’s talk in a nutshell.
AMD FreeSync |
AMD FreeSync Premium |
AMD FreeSync Premium Pro (formerly FreeSync 2 HDR) |
Certified No breaks Low latency |
Certified Refresh rate 120 Hz or higher in FHD Low frame rate compensation (LFC) Low latency |
Thorough color and brightness certification HDR Capabilities and Game Support Refresh rate 120 Hz or higher in FHD Low frame rate compensation (LFC) Low latency with SDR or HDR |
FreeSync is the basic, very first version. FreeSync Premium and Premium Pro guarantee screen refresh rates of 120Hz or higher in Full HD resolution. They also add support for Low Frame Rate Compensation (LFC) technology. Its essence is simple: if the frame rate in the game falls below the minimum set refresh rate of the monitor, then LFC immediately displays frames several times so that the video sequence remains smooth.
And if you want hardware HDR support and thorough color and brightness certification, look no further than monitors with FreeSync Premium Pro.
The second important technology is Fidelity FX Super Resolution or FSR. It can be considered AMD’s answer to NVIDIA DLSS. The second generation DLSS technology works great in games, providing a decent boost with minimal image distortion. But she has her weaknesses.
First, it’s proprietary technology. Secondly, it takes time and resources to integrate, so it is not available in all projects. Thirdly, DLSS works only on tensor cores as part of the GPU — there are no tensor cores, and there is no support for it.
In contrast, AMD FSR is built on industry standards and is completely open source. It does not require special structural blocks in the graphics processor. What’s more, it can work with AMD and NVIDIA products as well as Xbox and PlayStation game consoles. FSR integrates very easily, literally in a day, and works with the DirectX 11, 12 and Vulkan APIs.
The essence of FSR is very simple: first, it reduces the rendering resolution of the frame in order to prepare it faster, and scales it to native resolution before going to the monitor. And all this in one pass. The degree of frame compression affects the final quality of the picture and the increase in frame rate. Five provided profiles are responsible for this.
For example, if you select Ultra Quality mode for a 4K monitor, then the render resolution is reduced to 2954 x 1662. In Balanced mode, it drops even more — to 1920 x 1080. It is logical that the final picture in the second case will be worse.
At launch, only a handful of games support this technology, but AMD enlisted the support of many studios and added it to Unity and Unreal Engine 4. RX 6600 XT GAMING X .
The official sample never reached us, but the TELEMART.ua online store helped with this. It has a large selection of components, manual and automatic build generators, ongoing promotions and a discounted goods section.
The video card itself is the top one in its series. She received a small 3% boost in GPU gaming frequency and less than a 1% increase in dynamic speed. But in games, the frequency was consistently above 2600 MHz, in some places it reached 2700 MHz. And the temperature was below 65°. In FurMark, the maximum temperature just reached 65 °.
All thanks to the excellent TWIN FROZR 8 cooling system with four rectangular heat pipes and a pair of TORX FAN 4.0 fans. At low load, Zero Frozr technology turns on and puts the cooler in a passive mode of operation. Although the video card is already very quiet in operation.
Now let’s go through the opponents. In press materials, AMD compares the new product with the Radeon RX 5600 XT and RX 5700 XT . We had at hand the reference version of the second of them. The recommended price for the 5700 XT is $20 higher, and the real price is almost 2 times higher. It is based on the GPU Navi 10 XT with support for 2560 stream processors. 8 GB of GDDR6 memory runs at a lower frequency, but with a 256-bit bus. She cannot ray trace, so some tests will be without her.
The second internal opponent is the reference Radeon RX 6700 XT . Nominally, it is $100 more expensive, but in reality the difference between them is about $375. For this money, we are offered 8 additional CUs, 4 GB of video memory with a 192-bit bus, and 3 times more Infinity Cache.
GeForce RTX 3060 from the Palit Dual OC series was invited to the role of an external competitor. The recommended price tag for an NVIDIA video card is $50 lower, but in reality it is approximately the same $50 more expensive if we compare the most affordable representatives on Hotline. In addition, the RTX 3060 has a larger and faster memory subsystem. Yes, and it definitely copes better with tracing. How will it be with regular games — now you will see for yourself.
We immediately expected to release several materials on the RX 6600 XT, and for this purpose we have assembled such a stand. Based on the AMD AM4 platform with an 8-core 16-thread Ryzen 7 5800X processor. It is enough to test current video cards, and it supports the PCIe 4.0 interface.
Cooling was entrusted to the ID-Cooling Zoomflow 360X ARGB 3-section water cooler. It supports many Intel and AMD processors with a maximum TDP of 350W.
They did not take the top motherboard. But the ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS fits perfectly into the concept of a PC with a video card of the RX 6600 XT level. She also has a reinforced power subsystem with efficient radiators.
For modern games at maximum speeds, we look towards a 32 GB RAM kit, for example, DDR4-3600 Patriot Viper ELITE II . The delays are not very good, CL20, but the price does not bite.
For the operating system, game clients and some games, we took a fast NVMe SSD Patriot VPN100 1 TB. Serial read and write speeds exceed 3000 MB/s.
The remaining projects were thrown onto the 2-terabyte Patriot P210 .
Titanium Seasonic PRIME TX-750 with a fully modular cable system, support for all protections and 12 years of warranty was responsible for the stable power supply of the system.
Convenient assembly and comfortable temperature conditions provided by case CORSAIR iCUE 5000X RGB . It supports up to ten 120mm fans. Three turntables are included in the package.
The picture was displayed on the monitor Philips Brilliance 329P9H . Gameplays recorded by external system with AVerMedia Live Gamer 4K , i.e. without loss of performance.
We hope you are not tired and ready for the test session. Let’s start with a few synthetic benchmarks.
0572 AIDA64 GPGPU . The interesting thing here is that the speed of reading and writing to memory in the RX 5700 XT is the highest among the test models. It is almost 2 times higher than that of the RX 6600 XT. But the novelty is faster than its predecessor in terms of single and double precision processing power.
Overall performance in OpenCL shows LuxMark . And here the RTX 3060 easily bypasses the test novelty by more than 30%. Even the RX 5700 XT was slightly faster than the 6600 XT.
In terms of scene rendering speed in Blender , the new product was only minimally ahead of 5700 XT. The RTX 3060 has a 10% lead in CUDA mode. And in the Optix mode, NVIDIA’s model is more than 2 times better than the 6600 XT.
General gaming evaluation of test video cards is possible according to 3DMark benchmarks. For example, the Time Spy is optimized for the DirectX 12 API. In it, the 6600 XT outperforms the RTX 3060 by 10-11% and is 5-7% faster than the 5700 XT.
Port Royal shows an objective evaluation of the ray tracing mode. In it, the RTX 3060 already outperforms its “red” opponent by 13%.

compact gaming Mini-ITX systems or SFFs. At first glance, the card can easily be confused with the OEM reference design of the RX 5500. However, the RX 5600 XT has a much stronger potential that allows it to look even GeForce RTX 2060 in the eye. The device is only slightly longer than the length of the PCI-Express slot x16, 18 cm and not taller than what constitutes «full height». It also requires only one power connector, so cable clutter in the assembly is kept to a minimum.
AMD originally offered the Radeon RX 5600 XT to dominate the 1080p space at $279, beating the entire NVIDIA GeForce GTX 16 series, but lowering the RTX 2060 base price to $299 forced AMD to rethink its specs, offering higher clock speeds, meaning that it matches him. The consumer naturally benefits from this move, as the RX 5600 XT is now running at 1440p, with frame rates exceeding 90 FPS at 1080p. The PowerColor Radeon RX 5600 XT ITX comes with an updated BIOS out of the box, so no manual action is required from the user.
Table of contents:
AMD created the Radeon RX 5600 XT from the same 7nm «Navi 10» die used for the flagship RX 5700 XT, giving it the same 2304 stream processors as the RX 5700, but narrowing the memory bus to 192 -bit from 256-bit, and the amount of VRAM is proportionally reduced to 6 GB. It also showcases 144 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The
PowerColor RX 5600 XT ITX in this review runs at the maximum specification that AMD allows for the RX 5600 XT: 1560 MHz game clock, 1620 MHz maximum boost clock, and 14 Gbps memory (effective GDDR6) compared to 1375/ 1560 MHz original reference frequencies with 12 Gbps memory. The card uses a densely finned aluminum heatsink ventilated by a single fan, plus offers its idle stop. PowerColor wants $299 for this model, which is $20 more than MSRP and priced to match EVGA’s RTX 2060 KO. It seems that the premium is dictated mainly by the main USP of the card — its compact size.

Card
Visually, the PowerColor RX 5600 XT ITX is 100% different from other Navi-based cards from the company. Rather, the board resembles a typical AMD reference design. For some reason, there was no place for the back panel, which is a pity.
Dimensions:
- 175mm*110m*40mm
The card has a full 2-slot design.
Outputs:
- 2x DisplayPort (v1.4)
- 1x HDMI (2.0b)
The board uses one 8-pin power connector. This input configuration is designed for power consumption up to 225W.
AMD Navi GPUs no longer support CrossFire. DirectX 12 does include its own set of multi-GPU capabilities, but implementation requires game developers to devote serious time to developing a feature that only a tiny fraction of their users can use.
Disassembly
The PowerColor cooling system uses four heatpipes and a copper base. This part of the cooler also provides cooling for VRAM chips and VRM circuits. This is the same cooler as on the RX 5700 ITX, even with all eight memory thermal pads.
PCB Pictures
These pictures are for volt modders and people who want to see finer details on the PCB.
PCB Analysis
The GPU VRM is 7-phase and is controlled by an International Rectifier IR35217 controller which is one of the best controllers available on the market.
The two-phase memory VRM circuit is controlled by the NCP81022 controller.
The GDDR6 memory chips are manufactured by Micron and have model number D9WCW, which decodes to MT61K256M32JE-14:A. The chips are designed to operate at a frequency of 1750 MHz (effective GDDR6 14 Gb / s).
The AMD Navi 10 GPU is the first chip to use the new RDNA architecture. It is manufactured in 7nm technology at TSMC, Taiwan, and has a transistor count of 10.3 billion with a die size of 251mm².
The Navi 10 GPUs on the RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT had a reddish layer on the silicon die that is not present on the Navi 10 XLE used on the RX 5600 XT.
