You can customize what the user sees during the installation process depending on the target environment. For example, if a package is distributed to all clients for manual installation, there must be a complete user interface. However, if you are deploying a package using Group Policy that does not require user interaction, no user interface should be involved.

If the installation package overwrites files or tries to change files in use, a reboot may be required before the installation can complete.

/p | Installs a hotfix. If the installation is automatic, you must also set the REINSTALLMODE property to ecmus and the REINSTALL to ALL . Otherwise, the fix only updates the MSI cached on the target device. |
/update | Fix installation option. If you are applying multiple updates, you must separate them with a semicolon (;). |
/Pack | Installs or configures a product. |
