Let’s start our test session with Apex Legends at 720p. There are stutters and it’s not very comfortable to play on both versions of the R7 240. The GDDR5 variant is slightly faster in terms of average speed, while the rest of the statistics are slightly better for the DDR3 version.
At 900p, the situation between R7 240 does not change. The UHD 630 remains the leader in average speed — it is 8% faster than these discrete solutions. But the GT 730 and Vega 3 are still in the role of catching up.
In CS:GO fast memory cancels out the size and factory overclocking of the GPU version with DDR3. The difference between them reaches 16%.
But these are not the highest figures, because the GT 730 bypasses the fast R7 240 by 20-40%.
Dota 2 got smooth gameplay. The main struggle again unfolded between two discrete graphics cards with GDDR5 memory: the AMD version is 3% faster in terms of average speed. The version from NVIDIA is 28-33% better in other statistics.
In Forza Horizon 4 2GB R7 240 is 10% faster than 4GB in average speed and 6% faster than GT 730. But in reality it’s only 2-3 FPS. The difference in the rest of the statistics does not exceed 2 fps.
At higher resolutions, the GT 730 nominally outperforms the R7 240, albeit only by 1 FPS in average speed. Vega 3 is the leader in this indicator — it bypasses AMD’s discrete by 23%. In all cases, playing is not very comfortable.
In Fortnite , the confrontation between GDDR5 and DDR3 ended in favor of the former.
