Where can I find video BIOS updates? — WORLD NVIDIA

If the manufacturer of the video card is known, then from the manufacturer’s website. Sometimes the manufacturer offers automatic BIOS search and update utilities, such as ASUS LiveBios or MSI LiveUpdate. If the manufacturer is unknown, or the required update is not available on their website, you can search for the BIOS on the following sites:

  • mvkTech.net
  • TechPowerUp!
  • Overclockers.ru
  • ROM.by
  • Whitebunny
  • Station-Drivers
  • x86-secret

circuit board! In particular, video cards from ASUS, MSI, LeadTek and a number of other manufacturers may become inoperable after such an update!

Warning: Be careful when choosing a BIOS file. Make sure the BIOS file is for your graphics card. Video card parameters can be determined using the RivaTuner and GPU-Z utilities.

  • Make sure you have selected the BIOS for a video card equipped with the same type of video memory as yours (SDRAM, SGRAM, DDR, DDR2, DDR3). Different types of memory use different videoBIOS settings, and flashing the BIOS with settings for a different type of video memory than your graphics card’s video memory type will cause it to malfunction. The type of video memory for which the BIOS is designed is not yet determined by any of the known utilities. You can use a BIOS editor such as NiBiTor to compare the timings in the current BIOS and in the update file, they should not differ noticeably. Flash the BIOS only if you are sure that the type of video memory matches. nine0010
  • Make sure you select the BIOS for a graphics card that has a graphics processor of the same revision as the processor on your graphics card. GPUs of different revisions may differ in process technology, maximum frequencies and operating temperatures, supply voltage, and even the number of pipelines. Flashing a card with an older revision of a videoBIOS GPU that is designed for a newer revision of the processor may cause physical damage to the GPU. nine0010
  • Graphics cards based on GeForce 6X00 and newer GPUs often use price range grading by changing the number of pipelines on the same GPU. As a rule, manufacturers disable pipelines that fail testing due to hardware errors in their operation. Changing the videoBIOS to the BIOS from a different video card can unlock the failed pipelines, resulting in various glitches on the video card. Even if the same number of pipelines is disabled in the new BIOS, the sequence numbers of the pipelines in the mask may not match, as a result, healthy blocks will be disabled and disabled ones will be enabled. You can check if the software mask for video cards of the GeForce 6X00 family matches by using the videoBIOS emulation function from the RivaTuner utility file. To do this, create a Diagnostic report with the «NVIDIA VGABIOS information» option enabled, look in the corresponding section of the report for the lines «SW units mask» and «HW units mask» and remember the numbers of the disabled pipelines.
